How it works

Behind the numbers

The calculator looks at how much work has been done in total, subtracts what you've already been paid, and applies retention and GST to the difference.

Formula

The maths, written out

Cumulative work = Contract × Complete% + Variations
Gross claim = Cumulative − Previous paid
Retention      = Gross × Retention%
Net + GST      = (Gross − Retention) × (1 + GST%)
Worked example

A quick scenario

On a $420,000 contract that's 35% complete with $8,500 of approved variations and $105,000 already paid, the next gross claim is $50,500.
